Working Title: When Sunrise Comes

Soft Romance Fiction for Adults and Young Adults

When Sunrise Comes is set in London, England, at the Johnson family farm in Orlanger, Virginia, and in Africa. It is a sequel to Echo of a Dream, but is also a stand alone story in and of itself. Cara Landry has graduated from the university and is in medical school in London. While visiting Grill's Farm with her aunt, she has a reunion with Charles Ray McGuire, whom she met at the farm for the first time seven years earlier.

The main theme of the story is not Cara's romance with Charles Ray, but her overwhelming desire to find her father, whom she has never met. She has heard that he is a doctor at a medical clinic in Africa, and so begins her journey to Africa and her search for Marc Landry, M.D.

Title: My Old and Only Love

Historical Romance Fiction for Adults and Young Adults

My Old and Only Love will be a realistic portrait of the love story of Jefferson and Varina Davis.  I think of every historical person, whether an American President or President's wife, as the moments in which they really lived without the pomp or ceremony found in most historical accounts of their lives.  They each must have reached down and pulled on their shoes and gone through their days like we all do.  There were days when they were either happy or sad, fell in love or lost a loved one.   It's this portion of their lives I want to capture in this novel.

To even begin this novel or to determine if I wanted to write it took weeks of research and preparation.  I consider myself a storyteller, as was my grandmother and her grandmother as well.  Now I must become a historian, poring over large volumes of history, and somehow pull out the actual historical events and build Jefferson and Varina's personal thoughts and actions through and around them.
